so many things happened in the past month. so much that it actually turned my world upside down. while some things are starting to pickup, most are still in such a bad state.
if you were in my position, you would've given up. but i haven't. because i love my kids.
despite the distance...the issues, my Bon and Belle will forever be my inspiration. people may judge me or may say things about me. i don't really care anymore. i used to be affected with how people view me but i learned that what they have to say is not important as long as i know what is true.
i recently left my work. spent three years with them. thank you for the good memories and the bad ones too. the good one will forever be in my heart. the bad ones thought me a lot and i promise not to keep those negativity with me as it will not help me heal. i just hope everybody is happy.
starting with a new job, a new challenge. it is exciting and scary at the same time. i'm just happy to be working during the day again. a huge change as i've been working night shift for 8 years now. i need more effort to leave the house earlier because the traffic is really bad in the morning. and i need to be patient when going home as well coz...well...traffic again.
i just realized its been so long since i wrote something here that whatever i write doesn't make much sense. so random.
anyways, for two weeks i was jobless. i was in front of the computer most of the time looking for job openings. there are lots of opportunities out there but the choices...limited. i'm talking about the job openings i saw at jobstreet and jobsdb. i even tried my luck at oDesk (for the nth time) but since i have no experience there yet, nobody wants to hire me =( still, i'm not giving up. i'm taking up those tests to make me more "marketable' then hopefully someone will hire me for a project.
going back to the "limited" options. most are really for call centers. i have nothing against call centers, i worked at sykes for more than 5 years. in fact, i think they're really helping a lot of people because they do accept even high school graduates.
if you're really good with your comm.skills and you learn fast, call centers is actually a good job for you. its just that sometimes, the hiring process for these call centers are so inefficient.
a few months back, i tried applying as parttime agent for one of the more popular BPOs here. i was a walk-in applicant (they do accept that). meaning, i just went to their office and asked if they are accepting part-time employees. they do! so i applied. i waited for almost 2 hours. its not like there were many applicants. its just that their hiring people came in late. so from 9:30 to 11:30, i was doodling on paper writing my name and my kids name over and over and over. then finally, the interview. it was a group interview. we were 5 in the group and one look at our resume, she quickly sorted it according to number of years of experience. i was last to speak since i had most experience (work ha) in our group.
so what happened in the interview? the first two worked at other call centers as tech support. they were asked why they resigned, how much was their pay, how much is their asking, etc. you know what i didn't like? the lady doing the interview was correcting their grammar as they speak. is that really normal when you're in an interview? when we interviewed applicants before (in sykes, after HR, we do the technical interview to check their knowledge about the product that we support), we just write the feedback on their application. i just don't think its nice.
anyways, i was not accepted. she told me i passed (i think so too. i even think i can do a better job than her hahaha joke!) but since i have a full time job that may cause "conflict of interest" i was not qualified. hello. i don't work for a BPO, we do not support any client or whatever. maybe i'm just bitter hahaha
maybe i should put up a company that teaches people how to prepare their resume if they are applying for call center jobs and how to pass an interview hahaha really, the behavioral interview training i got from sykes helped me a lot. not just for job interviews but it actually helped improve how i talk to my peers and superiors. thanks to sykes and the many leadership trainings they have if you are promoted as team lead, supervisor, or manager.
i'll think about it.
